Mikaela Tan
is an Illustrator, Animator and Graphic Designer based in Austin, Texas.
She's also currently in her senior year of studying graphic design and animation at St. Edward’s University, in the same city.
With every project, whether it be an analog stop motion animation or a fully digital title sequence, she strives to push the limits of what is considered conventionally “attractive” design. She's found that giving herself the freedom to create what she likes yields unconventional, yet appealing outcomes.
Hi! I’m Mikaela Tan.
I’m an illustrator and animator currently based in Austin, Texas. I’m also in my senior year of studying graphic design and animation at St. Edward’s University, in Austin, Texas. Regarding art style, I tend to favor experimentation over perfection across all of my works. With every project, whether it be a hand-drawn comic or modeling with 3D animation software, I try to push the limits of what is considered conventionally “attractive” design. I found that giving myself the freedom to create what I like (without the pressure of conforming to traditional ideas of acceptable visuals) yields unconventional, yet appealing outcomes.
Regarding art style, I tend to favor experimentation over tradition across all of my works, with a distinct and cohesive style. By removing the pressure of conforming to traditional ideas of what are acceptable aesthetics of illustration and animation.
